Separation by Iranian Director ASGHAR FARHADI  topped my best of the year list for 2011 . His new film THE PAST  is as good if not more complex with riveting performances  Bérénice Bejo, Tahar Rahim, and Ali Mosaffa. Here in this post-screening conversation with Variety's Editor Cox and the audience he answers question about directing and screenwriting which is a invitation to see his films from his director's point of view ... a full review of the film will follow when it has a theatrical release ..but this conversation is well worth watching to learn about his directing process . We asked a question during the audience participation section: note though he speaks English well he choose to have a translator present so all the nuancing of question and answers would be heard by him and the audience.
